Getting quotes from Verity, Hall-Lane and Roselli..
I read good reviews about Verity and Hall-Lane on here for longer moves, how are they for local? Any info on Roselli? Any other recommendations? It's less than a 10 mile move for a 2 br apartment......
We've gotten a few online quotes too, ranging in price from 350-900 for the move which is a pretty large gap considering |

If you've already reviewed the comments at the New York Superlist, you can enter a company's name in quotes in the search field to see what others have written.
You might also check out the Long Island Moving & Storage Association website for companies by location.

I don't think Roselli has ever been mentioned here, but Hall-Lane and Verity have excellent reviews and comments. See these posts:

Although there are several independents with good reviews, one person that I know personally is Tommy Maher at Maher Van Lines and I feel confident that he would give you good service. I have a feeling that one of the independents might be lower cost than Hall-Lane but am not sure. It would be good if you could post your quotes. _________________ Diane

Hall Lane and Verity quotes are forthcoming..
Here are the quotes I've gotten so far
Charles Wood - 5 ¾ hours @ $ 120.00 per hour = $ 690.00
All American Van Lines - 6 hrs @ 115/hr 805.00
Apollo Van Lines - 5 hrs @ 95/hr 570.00 (after reading some stuff here, I am soooo glad I found this forum!)
DH got these from Craigslist:
Ad Moving - "approx" 385-415
B&B Maintenance - 400 |

| Don't use anybody from Craigslist, is my opinion. |

I agree!
I told DH I felt they were giving lowball estimates since that was what it cost me to move a studio apartment in 2005! This is how I ended up with this task and how I ended up stumbling across this site.. SOOOO glad I did!
Hall-Lane and Verity are both coming to do a visual estimate Wednesday.......
I'd like to get a few more estimates. I got an email from Roselli based on a site I put a list of our stuff into and they're on LIMSA, didn't know if anyone here had more feed back on them or others.
I will look into Maher, also
thanks |

DH met with 2 estimators today
Verity quoted 1200 because it's a weekend move
Hall Lane quoted 900 - estimator stated he felt it would be less than that, no surcharge for weekend
Never got a call from the request I sent to Maher
We are now looking into emove helpers too |

Roselli gave a quote of 125/hr 4 hr min for 3 men
Levittown stated 165/hr for 4 men
Maher called back, gave a quote stated for 8-9 hours...... that seems mighty excessive. I could do it myself if I wanted it to take that long.
Right now, Hall Lane is where we're leaning towards or doing it ourselves..... |

Please give contact info for Roselli and Levittown so I can include them in the Superlist - thanks in advance. _________________ Diane

If Maher is quoting based on 2 men, it could actually save you money. Instead of paying the travel time for 3 or 4 men, you are only paying it for 2 and a van. _________________ My job is to give the best domestic and international moving services to my corporate clients by using the best movers in the world, regardless of vanline affiliation. |

IIRC, DH said it was for 3 men and the truck
This job wouldn't take DH and I any more than 4-5 hours, I'd expect it to take less time from professionals.
It's a 2br ground floor apartment going 10 miles to another ground floor apartment, both have easy direct access.
I don't understand 8-9 hours |

Sometimes companies quote high when they are busy and need to assign limited resources to other (maybe more lucrative) jobs. I believe that Maher primarily services the NY to FL route, and points in between. _________________ Diane

We decided to go with Hall-Lane, move is set for tomorrow. I can tell you that the communication up til today has been fantastic. Not only did Alex Daflos (the estimator) call to make sure that we were set, the driver has confirmed and the office has been in touch with us a few times as well.
I'll be back to let you all know how it went next week |
