Quantcast
"You Load/We Drive" moves are usually much less expensive than full-service moves. You control your moving costs by loading your items yourself within the space you reserve. Charges are based on space used and distance traveled; weight is not considered. Because you load your own shipment, you are primarily responsible if scratches, dents, and breakage occur, although your shipment is covered for damage caused by company negligence or catastrophes.
Full service moving companies do the loading, driving, and unloading for you and also pack your items if desired. However, these moves are usually much more expensive than self-moves. Charges are based on the weight of the shipment and distance traveled. Items are covered for damage caused by company negligence or catastrophes and you can also buy enhanced valuation coverage for scratches, dents, and breakage from the company.
Auto transport companies These auto transporters own their own trucks and have their own drivers. They are not brokers that would shop your move to the lowest bidder and keep you waiting until someone agrees to move your car. If you ship your car with them, you can talk to the driver so you will always know where your car is. They are not cut-rate operators, but reviews show that they have performed very well for customers at reasonable cost.
Auto transport brokers do not own their own trucks. They book your car with the actual carrier and charge a small fee (typically $150-$200) to do so. A good broker with many contacts can be very helpful. However, choose one like ProStar that works with high-quality carriers and will not just place your car with the lowest bidder. The broker should also stay on top of your move so you know where your car is and when it will be delivered.
International moving companies arrange for your goods to be seen and measured, packaged, moved to port or airport, transported internationally, and delivered. For safety, be sure that any company you contract with is licensed by the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC).
MovingScam-Approved Companies There are many good moving companies besides the few companies that are formally endorsed by MovingScam. The following companies are properly licensed and insured. They have numerous excellent, believable reviews and few or no complaints, showing that they are committed to providing high-quality moves. They have each assigned a person to help MovingScam customers with any problems that may arise.

In view of this, MovingScam has given these companies its seal of approval. This seal of approval is a step below formal endorsement only because, as van line agents, they are not able to control every move from start to finish, although they are able to control moves that they do using their own trucks and drivers. Especially for the latter type of move, MovingScam.com recommends these companies with confidence.

WARNING TO ALL!
My family and I recently relocated to Ireland and used Uniworld Cargo of 4000 West Side Avenue, North Bergen, New Jersey 07047.
HUGE MISTAKE!
Uniworld Cargo is very unprofessional and when you need to talk to someone, no one is 'conveniently' available.
The communication within the company is highly deficient and no one ever seems to have any information. We tried for weeks to get an update on the status of our shipment and only got promises of return calls, which never happened.
They kept our personal effects in storage that they are now forcing us to pay otherwise they will not clear our shipment. Additionally, we finally got information about our shipment but not from Uniworld Cargo, it was from a removal and storage company in the UK.
Based on our experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone, as this has not been a satisfactory experience to say the least.

HELLO. THIS IS HELEN FROM UNIWORLD CARGO AT 4000 WEST SIDE AVENUE.

WHAT YOU ARE STATING TO CONSUMERS IS ABSOLUTELY UNTRUE. YOU CONTACT OUR COMPANY TO PICK UP 8 BOXES FROM YOUR FLORIDA APARTMENT DURING THE MIDST OF A HURRICANE. IN ORDER TO ACCOMODATE YOU SINCE YOU WERE FLYING OUT OF THE COUNTRY, WE SENT ONE OF THE MANAGING DIRECTORS (A PERSONAL FRIEND) OF OUR OFFICE IN MIAMI IN HIS OWN VAN ON A SUNDAY TO PICK UP YOUR BOXES (AGAIN DURING A HURRICANE). HE HAD TO MAKE TWO TRIPS BACK AND FORTH TO THE WAREHOUSE. YOU THEN CALLED ME AND ASKED ME TO HOLD THE BOXES IN OUR WAREHOUSE IN MIAMI AS YOU WERE TRYING TO SELL YOUR CAR AND IF YOU COULD NOT, YOU WANTED TO SHIP THE VEHICLE AS WELL. I PROVIDED YOU WITH THE SHIPPING COST AND YOU TOLD ME YOU WOULD GET BACK TO ME WHICH YOU NEVER DID UNTIL OVER A MONTH LATER ASKING WHERE YOUR BOXES WERE. WE INFORMED YOU THAT THE BOXES WERE BEING STORED IN MIAMI AS WE WERE WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU AT WHICH TIME YOU MENTIONED YOU SPOKE TO SOMEONE IN OUR OFFICE (WHO YOU COULDNOT PROVIDE A NAME FOR) AND TOLD HER TO SHIP THE BOXES. ALL OF OUR PREVIOUS CORRESPONDANCES WERE IN WRITING, EXCEPT THIS CORRESPONDANCE FROM YOU. ALL OF OUR DOCUMENTATION CLEARLY STATES TO PUT SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS IN WRITING.

WE AT UNIWORLD CARGO WORK VERY HARD TO SERVICES OUR CLIENTS WITH THE HIGHEST OF LEVEL OF SERVICE AVAILABLE.

WE ACCOMODATED YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN A TIME OF NEED. THIS YOU FORGOT TO MENTION IN YOUR MESSAGE. NO OTHER COMPANY WOULD HAVE OR COULD HAVE ACCOMODATED YOU IN THE MIDST OF A HURRICANE LIKE WE DID. YOU SHOULD RE-THINK YOUR COMMENTS.

I THINK THAT UNIWORLD CARGO HAS BEEN SCAMMED HERE WITH THIS MESSAGE FROM AN UNGRATEFUL CLIENT.

Helen, what about the three unsolicited complaints on this non-moving website?

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=237984

Are they scamming you, too?

Helen

I don't know how you have the gall to write this response. I had the exact same experience with your comapny - you treated us like dirt, didn't perform the service you promised, took 6 months to deliver our goods, and charged us $1000 over the estimate for the priviledge. You have now lost your license with the Federal Maritime Commission. You owe this customer, and all your other clients, a massive apology and money back. Even your staff told me that they heard complaints all the time and that, when customers would call up with problems, no one would speak to them. Dealing with your company was one of the most stressful experiences of my life.

I'm investigating Uniworld Cargo for one of my executive's whose belongings are tied up in Australia and will not be released because Uniworld owes over $2000.

I understand that Helen had "disappeared" for a while; however, I've learned she has re-surfaced at:

www.ltvrelocation.com
helen@LTVRelocation.com
tel # (305) 681 0000

Wish me luck! If she does not respond, our next step is to hire an attorney... and BY GOD WE MEAN TO DO IT! ugh

I hate to say this, but your employee will have to pay the shipper that is holding the goods, get the load delivered as should have been, THEN go to court to get that $2000 back. The longer the load waits, the more storage fees get racked up.

Thanks for the update on Helen. I'm sure we will look into that company more.

WOW after reading this listing of all the companies that have had their maritime privileges revoked, I hope that there is some way for consumers to check that first link who are considering overseas moves! The list is rather lengthy and one needs to look at it closely to see if the company they might be thinking of hiring is on there!!!

I agree. They had a company in Las Vegas come out and when he oversetimated my shipment I was charged anyway. I called Helen and she said that the company was the professional. I was in the military for 25 years and never with 5 family members used 196 boxes. They argued of course so my shipment would set in the port at Manila and gather extra charges for another moving company, Goetz. Goetz keeps asking for more money even after I have paid and received my shipment. I urge everyone to avoid uniworld at any cost. I was promised delivery and "ASSEMBLY" at destination, the people that delivered were hired off the doc's they were not movers, just a truck that could haul the container. I assembled everything myself and if I didn't have good help at the house most items would never have made it upstairs. These people want your money and then more, avoid them.

I moved from NJ to Brazil 2 years ago, unhappily, with the help and stress of UNIWORLD. The most horrible experience of my life, and I have moved world wide 4 times. They held my goods for ransom, broke countless things, never packed alot of things, etc, etc,. I successfully sued the company and won for breach of contract even though I lost on the consumer fraud part. I am having a really hard time collecting my judgement from them. If anyone can help provide information about this company, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it (and so would my credit card bills!!)
