March 4th, 2003 was a very successful day for everyone at MovingScam.com and the many victims, and volunteers who have been involved in our cause.
The FBI in conjunction with Florida Attorney General Charlie Crist and the DOT Office of the Inspecor General launched a crackdown on Florida-based moving companies. 16 moving companies and 74 operators, owners, and employees were indicted on charges of Fraud and Extortion. The list of companies indicted reads like a mirror comparison to the Black List that the MovingScam.com, and MovingAdvocateTeam.com volunteers and victims have assembled over more than the past year.
Because of the scope of this story, and the many news articles and press releases that will accompany this government action, this page has been put together to provide you with as much information regarding the events as possible.
We have to give credit to Chanel 10 news in Florida for putting out what (as far as we can tell) was the first news article regarding this story. You can find that article here: FBI Boxes In Dozens Of South Florida Moving Companies.
The Miami FBI has a list of the companies who were involved in the indictments here: http://miami.fbi.gov/movescam.htm and this web site is very important for victims of any of the moving companies listed because the Miami FBI is taking statements on that site. If you are a victim, you are strongly encouraged to file a statement on their web site.
