Re: Atlas Van Lines
Thanks everyone! This has been very helpful. We have been very fortunate to find a place in Boston and wont need storage. We are also thinking of going with Allied van lines-- their company in Austin is Covan. Has anyone had good or bad experience with them? Their quote was slightly higher than Atla...

Re: Atlas Van Lines
Cnoblit, Many thanks. The allied person said that once they move it to a storage facility of our choice, then their liability is over. Which makes me worried -- but at the same time, I feel that a storage for 3500 on a move for 4000 is definitely very expensive. Have you or anyone else worked with a...

Re: Atlas Van Lines
So the person from Allied came on Friday and their estimate is also 8k lbs, which is closer to what United had given and 1-1.5 k more than Atlas. I am getting double minded about Atlas now, since all the others have estimated it 1-1.5 k lbs more than them. The other thing which is rather confusing i...

Re: Atlas Van Lines
Thanks -- this is useful. I am going to wait for an estimate from Allied to see why Atlas is almost a 1000 lbs less.
Could it be because the Atlas person had a hand-held and was more meticulous than the United person who was using plain old sheet of paper, or should that not matter?

Re: Atlas Van Lines
Thanks Folks -- I appreciate it. I will have Allied Van lines give us an estimate as well tomorrow, so lets see what they say. Also, I wanted to know, when someone says "it is not to exceed" price estimate, what does it really mean? Apparently Atlas uses the term "price assurance" or something like ...

Atlas Van Lines
Folks, I would greatly appreciate if I can get some feedback from those who have had experience with Atlas Van lines. I have gotten quotes from Atlas, United and Graebel for our upcoming move from Austin to Boston. Atlas is the cheapest option (by nearly 3k). The main difference is that united has e...

Austin to Boston
I was wondering if people have recommendations for good packers/movers as we plan to move from Austin to Boston at the end of June. We havent gotten any estimates yet, but would like to get an idea of how much to expect. We have a 3 bedroom place, no major furniture except 2 beds and 1 sofa set and ...
