Re: Moving from Raleigh to Dallas
Agreed. Allied, based on numbers (Weight and cost) seem to be offerring the best pricing. Are you in need of storage? Curious why Armstrong would offer 28 days of free storage?

Re: Raleigh to Wilmington NC move--seeking some answers
NC is a regulated state. All movers must follow the maximum rate tariff. Your move is dictated by weight and services rendered, such as packing, extra pick ups, fuel surcharge, etc. Everyone will use the exact same rate per mile, but then each mover is free to discount those numbers. I would be very...

Re: Household Contents Left in Warehouse by Coleman/Allied
Granted, when the truck was assigned, based on the weights provided the driver could pick you up. But as mentioned, one shipment goes over by 4000, another by 1000, and now your at the end of an overflow. And the sales person has no idea at the time he or she is providing you the estimate, who else ...

Re: Moving from Atlanta, GA to Germany
We just delivered a shipment today as the DA. The shipment, as I understand it was delayed, inspected and just an utter night mare for the shipper. Why was it inspected? Because the packer wrote PLANT on the box. You know what the PLANT was? It was a plastic Christmas tree. Oh, and upon reloading he...

The sad thing is most reputable movers dont charge for stairs, long carries or shuttles anymore (unless at origin)

If you can find one company, especially a reputable one, out there that doesnt have any complaints against them, then holy hell, send us their name. All companies are going to have complaints. Especially your good reputable ones. These are human beings, not machines moving you (well other then the t...

Re: Movers Choice Moving and Storage, Colorado
Why would you go with a company like that? Why why why? If you think your going to get them to do things your way once your at the weight station as mentioned below, wishful thinking. It doesnt matter what you tell one company if another is brokered out to handle it for you. For god sake, suck it up...

Re: Getting in home estimates- spacings between appointments.
The truth is, sales people cant magically change a price by changing the numbers, because we all follow a tariff. The tariff stipulates what our charges are on a interstate move. Our companies limit the discount we can provide shippers. Therefore, when someone is more expensive then the next person,...

Yelp reviews are about as helpful as a BBB review.

Re: Getting in home estimates- spacings between appointments.
How do you select your least favorite to favorite in order to get estimates if you dont know "who" your colling to set up the quote to begin with? If you dont know Allied from United or Graebel from Mayflower, how do you know who your favorite is. In my humble opinion, I think if the customers wishe...

Re: What is a binding estimate? / Extra fees?
It would be nice to know why movers even quote binding or guarantee. Why do movers allow their sales people to say "IT CANT BE MORE" or "IT WONT GO UP" when we all know drivers can protest a shipment. I think everything should be a non binding estimate. You probably wouldnt take the lowest bid then ...

Re: Normal delivery windows for moving
Why isnt anyone asking who he is moving with? You got great replies from movers with good reps and know how the industry works. And great replies from others who refused to elaborate (lol). But if this is a fly by night company moving you or a company you selected over the internet or a broker, then...
