Re: Moving from Maryland to Delaware Need storage for 6 months

Bayshore in Delaware, Parks in ABERDEEN,Md and Hampden in Abingdon,Md would give you a very good range of price and quality ratings from non-scammers.

Re: **2 Days Before Scheduled Move of 20,000 lbs Atlas cancels on us!!! OMG

The booking agent has a 1000% duty to do an agent pickup---or die trying. To just walk away is as low and unprofessional as it gets ----nothing to do with profitability--after all the booker set the price AND COMMITTED TO THE PICKUP DATE. i'm glad I'm out of the business after hearing some of the pr...

Re: 2 Days Before Scheduled Move of 20,000 lbs Atlas cancels on us!!!! OMG

The booking (sales) agent is supposed to do an agent pickup at no additional cost to the customer------this is rule number one----to just say sorry is almost as bad as scamming-----it's reprehensible. If there is not more to this story------------they deserted this customer.

Re: **Important information regarding ABF U-Pack 4/28/2011**

that's a question to ask the parties involved. I don't see how the shipper would be liable if he/she didn't arrange the labor. Well I think that if the shipper pays the load help direct--that the shipper could be held liable for work-related injury. Arrange and pay are 2 separate considerations. Ho...

Re: **Important information regarding ABF U-Pack 4/28/2011**

"we both know they can't inspect every agent they use, but I'd be safe in saying that they do use reputable companies."

So let's say a helper is severely injured on an ABF move-----who's workman's comp is in effect--------or is the customer liable?

Re: Why can't I find a national BBB record for Allied Van Lines?

Hi NYC-----sorry if my reply indicated anything more than a total personal condemnation of the BBB. Over my 40 plus years in the moving industry I had seen many cases of lowered ratings and judgments after a company stopped membership in the BBB. THE CLASSIC----a mover that I worked for and eventual...

Re: Why can't I find a national BBB record for Allied Van Lines?

I ask because I would like to know the total number of BBB complaints they have received at the national level for the past 3 years. Obviously, my company's record has been better than theirs has been and it's a selling tool. In case you haven't noticed, it's a war out there... It MAY just measure w...

Re: Why can't I find a national BBB record for Allied Van Lines?

I used to be able to go into the national Better Business Bureau website and look up Allied Van Lines' complaint history by clicking "Check a business or charity" and then entering "Allied Van Lines" as the search argument. Among the results, a record for "Headquarters" would come up in Westmont, I...

Re: Undercover Boss- United Van Lines

A lot of fluff----like online estimating is the answer to bad estimates?----claims denied verbally rather than in writing?
Mcclure seems like a genuine decent person---------big difference from Maurice.

It appears that S&M was appointed as your destination agent-----the mover's representative in your new town. There is a distinct advantage in having a local rep in your new town should any problems arise in your move.

"In this case, there is the potential for a shuttle, and the movers are willing to go along with the permit idea, but if for any reason it doesn't work (including weather, ie: snow), and a shuttle becomes necessary, the movers should not be expected to do all the extra work for free." I am not advoc...

Re: Moving soon and would like advise (Connecticut)

Do you even need storage?----Do you realize that a second moving fee and separate handling fee are charged for storage-IN ADDITION TO THE ACTUAL STORAGE FEE? And that these fees about double your moving cost even after deducting actual storage fees. ----remember that nothing is "free".
