Re: Is Yelp a Reliable website

Yelp has had a dishonorable reputation for quite some time, which is unfortunate because it could have had tremendous value for consumers and companies alike. There is no clear rhyme or reason as to why certain reviews appear on Yelp and others do not - except, of course, the level of advertising th...

Re: Something I Have noticed recently

Well said, Big Lee. We see the same thing here in NJ/NYC.

Re: Tonymoving.com

The reason I said what I did was because I did not want this entire thread to end on a note like "Well, they didn't have a license, but they did a great job anyway" where other consumers might think it's okay to engage this or any other unlicensed mover. Exactly. Every shady mover has a good move f...

Re: Tonymoving.com

I wish there was a like button for NYCMover and BigLee posts. They are absolutely right. You are very lucky. Cheap and best never go together and the NJ market ripe with less than reputable movers. Ethnicity has nothing to do with getting a good move or a bad move, but character certainly matters. T...

Re: New member of the moving industry, lots to LEARN

Just seeing this for some reason. I think my alerts may be off.

BigLee - I agree! I think the working partnership between movers and the site has a ton of value.

Movinghelper - Thanks!

Happy Holidays everyone :-)

Re: New member, in the moving industry, lots to discuss

Having been a way from this site for a while (not intentional, just a lot on my plate lately), I was kind of happy to see this thread. I'm really tired of brokers on other social networks that blatantly lie to would-be customers. MM, Big Lee, Archie and the like - you are, indeed, a refreshing bunch...

Re: Moving companies’ identities stolen

Terrible, but I'm not surprised. Hoboken and Jersey city are just ripe with scams like this because the community is so transient no one cares enough to take these guys out.

I feel really bad for these movers. Thanks for posting.

Re: New York (Manhattan) to Jersey City (Exchange Place) move

first, let me say that asking for a tip is absolutely insane. I can't believe that they did that. If you would have said that you didn't want to tip or hadn't considered it previously or couldn't afford it, I would be fine with that. But saying that you didn't tip because of a previous bad move is ...

I have to agree with MusicMom though - seems unfair to me. But, I'm glad your move went well!

Re: Excellent Quality Movers - Brooklyn, NY. 2 websites? mismatching quotes

Also, the Superlist can be a bit misleading when it comes to metropolitan areas. A lot of good movers have operations just outside NYC. You can call movers that are in North Jersey, Long Island and Westchester as well.

Re: New York (Manhattan) to Jersey City (Exchange Place) move

Vagabond - I still think you're going to be alright. Unless you are moving out of Tribeca, it's going to take the truck some time to get to AND through the Holland Tunnel and then to navigate some of the tight JC streets. I can't imagine they would make it much quicker than 30. You could cut time by...
