After posting I went back and check the costs for the Spain-USA move. It was 790 euros (a bit more than $1000), and the company used (subcontracted?) FedEx (it took about two weeks for the boxes to arrive). I guess that it is what you mention (the minimum shipping): Fred gave me a tip about ShipSmar...
