Re: Enclosed Automobile Shippers

The 1953 Singer is not related to the Singer sewing machine company. The company first manufactured motorcycles and then got into automobiles. The production number is approximately 11,000 cars, in comparison to about 45,000 MG's from the same time frame. Only approx. 700 of my dad's model, the 4ADT...

Re: Enclosed Automobile Shippers

Well, the results are in! We elected to go with Passport Fed Ex Custom Critical to ship the 1953 Singer from CA to VA in large part because of the comfort of dealing with a well known company as well as their ability to potentially make the move happen more quickly than some of the other, smaller op...

Re: Olympic Moving and Storage, MA

I just realized, as I was posting for a completely unrelated need, that I never let you know about my move 3 years ago with Olympic. I apologize, 3 years late!! Our experience with Olympic was ok, They delivered our things on time. We had some minor (and less minor) damage i.e. scratches on a few pi...

Re: Enclosed Automobile Shippers

There was a line at the bottom of their quote that stated because of Auction and Concourse events they would have limited space for 30 days. Mr. Wenger told me he has waited 6, and as many as 9, weeks for cars, but did not specify which carrier he was referring to.

Re: Enclosed Automobile Shippers

Thanks for all your help so far. I thought I'd keep you posted as the quotes roll in. Horseless Carriage came back with...surprisingly...one of the lowest quotes! $1820! Intercity Lines came back with $2255 or $1852 for a standby price...basically a "space available" rate. It could take 3 days to 3 ...

Re: Enclosed Automobile Shippers

Thank you so much for the information. I did know that Enclosed also brokered, but thank you for the heads up. I have gotten a quote of $2652 from them. I have gotten one from FedEx for $2285 and have asked for one from Horseless Carriage. I will keep you all posted on how things progress. I appreci...

Enclosed Automobile Shippers

Hi all. It's been a few years since I was so greatly helped by this website, but here I am...back again. This time, instead of moving the contents of my house, I'm moving a 1953 Singer automobile from CA to VA and am looking for a reliable enclosed shipper. Sadly, Golden Key Express, your recommende...

Re: Olympic Moving and Storage, MA

Ooops, I forgot to tell you about the negative review I read about Olympic. I could swear that in reading a zillion postings I came across one, but for the life of me can't find it again. It was just a complaint that furniture had been damaged. Maybe I've confused it with one of the other horror sto...

Re: Olympic Moving and Storage, MA

Diane, Thanks so much for the information and for your assessment. We are indeed talking about the same Olympic M & S. I had looked them up on the BBB website and saw the 9 reports in 36 months, but had no real idea of how bad, or good, that record was. Thank you for your thoughts on that. The t...

Olympic [now Olympia] Moving and Storage, MA

Hi there, This is my first time writing to a meassage board, but after looking at a number of postings...I'm scared to death! We're moving from MA to VA and we're looking for a moving company. I have three estimates, one from Olympic M & S out of Watertown, MA, one from North American out of Aye...
