Re: personal effects FROM USA- what's the security problem

There are no unusual security issues with doing personal export from the US. The only thing which is of concern (and not related to 911) is that the Port of LA has an unusually high instance of customs inspections on exported goods (I would estimate about 30%). I suggest getting quotes from two or t...

Re: Lawyer Recommendation

I don't know a good lawyer, however if you think theft is involved (or anything criminal) you are the one who has to file a police report. Your best course of recourse is to both file an insurance claim, and file a complaint with the FMC: https://www.fmc.gov/resources-services/requesting-cadrs-assis...

Re: CT to Northern Italy

The quote seems to include everything it should. Without knowing the destination city, I can say Milano is about 150 KM from the closest port, and there is still plenty of Italy north of MIlano.

I would suggest getting two more quotes from respected companies to compare.

Re: Please review the quote for international shipping by SDC International Shipping

Four comments: 1 - The quote does not include "Delivery order fees (DO)" and also "Any port related fees or other local fees, excess overflow charges.". It must. Ask them and get the answer in writing. You must pay this, so you must know how much these will be. 2 - Find out their FMC License Number ...

Re: COLORADO TO CALIFORNIA - Atlantic VS Golden

I work with Atlantic Relocation for my local work there and have been happy with them for years. They are part of Atlas Van Lines, one of the majors. Not only do they have a facility in Colorado, but also in LA (as well as access to all of the resources of Atlas). I have no knowledge of the other co...

Re: Scammed

I'm glad you got your stuff back. You will see that Jeff posted to your other thread - please send him a PM outlining what you did. I assume you want to do it privately and he is the big frog here. The rest of us are volunteers and are just trying to help. If what we suggest didn't work for you, I'm...

Re: Scammed

I would recommend the following: 1. First and foremost, contact Move Rescue immediately. They can help start the process of tracking down your stuff, helping you confront the fraudsters and, if you can find where your stuff is located, MoveRescue can help get a mover to complete your move. That bein...

Re: Milwaukee -> Switzerland

My comments: 1 - Air Shipments are always charged on actual chargeable weight (whichever is higher - the actual weight or the volumetric formula of 1 cubic meter is at least 166 Kilo). This quote doesn't show what the per kilo price is if it changes. 2 - Most Air Shipments have little or no free tim...

Re: Milwaukee -> Switzerland

Sirva is fine . check the quote, especially the not included section, to make sure it includes the Port Fees and THC at Destination. Sirva is the parent company of two of the major Van Lines in the US. Aires is also fine - same as above regarding what to check on the quote. If you need help checking...

Re: Need trusted mover ASAP for Los Angeles to Malmö relo

You are looking for a pick-up on 2 weeks notice during the busiest selling time of the year. The reason I haven't answered sooner is that today I caught up to requests I got up until yesterday. Today's requests will wait until tomorrow. You like crown, you like who they are partnered with, and they ...

Re: International move to Thailand

1 - Regarding Siam Relocation, I don't know them and have never worked with them, but they show the FAIM Symbol on their website and they are NOT Fido Faim Certified. I would avoid them, as they are obviously misleading from the start. 2 - If you are moving from the US to Thailand, work with a US Fo...
