Re: "You-load, We-move" search and sizing questions

ABF is a freight carrier, so you will be moving on a 27-foot freight trailer. When they first got into the U pack business, they were strictly using spring ride trailers. As the business grew, they switched to air ride trailers, which resulted in a much better ride with less damage. If your move is ...

Re: How to measure the truck

I know this is an old post, but in my experience, I have found that the crooks that charge by the cubic foot instead of by weight habitually do not load the truck tight. They may load 80% of the goods maybe 2 tiers and then when they get to the target cube they want to charge, they will suddenly go ...

Re: COLORADO TO CALIFORNIA - Atlantic VS Golden

I think you meant Colorado for the Longmont location. I have lived in California since 1946, and there is no Longmont, CA.

To Noone, how are you? I haven't been on in a while. I looked up Golden Van Lines, and it appears they are also Atlas Agents.

Re: I hope someone can help

I don't know if you have had any luck with your original question. I would avoid third party services for providing labor because you don't know if they are properly trained, or just some guys to toss your things around. You mentioned moving to Brooklyn. My recommendation is to contact a Moving comp...

Re: New York City Local Moving Scam Company

Your first mistake was selecting a mover on Craigslist. Most movers who use social media platforms are unlicensed movers, which leave you with little recourse unless you can pursue a small claims court action. Did you get a written agreement prior to the move? Did the movers have a bill of lading? I...

Re: Please Help! AMSA arbitrator ruled against because damages were noted at time of delivery

A couple of questions... #1 - What type of valuation did you request and pay for at the time you arranged your move? #2 - What prompted you to go to Arbitration? Had you filed a claim with your mover? You say that the mover claimed "inherent vice". Did they inventory your property, and what conditio...

Re: Spark Moving Company scam

You are correct that Spark scammed you... Unfortunately, this is how they have been able to get away with these things... You end up with two or three companies involved, and end up paying way more than the original estimate. Do you have ANY paperwork from any of them with their DOT or Interstate Op...

Re: Random Charges not in Contract

You said that the storage company gave you a discount for 3 months storage, but they offered you a discount of $109.91. If they gave you that discount, but did not give you the charge for the storage unit, how can you be sure what that $109.91 was discounted FROM? I have always been skeptical of any...

Re: Two small moves vs one big move

What you may want to do is put the first half in storage. When you're ready to move, have the second half loaded onto a truck, then have it get the first half from storage, and take both shipments as one to destination. You can find a local mover who is van line affiliated who can give you a written...

Re: Advise on State to File Small Claims California or Jersey

I know this is old, but since I live in California, and have had to respond to several small claims...The rule is that you need to file the suit in the county where the scam has occurred. I don't know about New Jersey, but you can check with your state office of consumer affairs....

Re: Unified Van Lines - Deceased Relative

Has this issue been resolved? What is the name of the United Agency that has the difficulties? Moverescue should be able to help you, but since you dealt with an agency of United Van Lines, you should contact the headquarters in Fenton, Missouri. The reason is if an agency is having problems; they h...

I am not familiar with the moving laws in Georgia, but I would offer that I have a friend in the Atlanta area that can help you. Archie White is the owner of AC White Relocations. He has five branches in Georgia. You can email him at archiew@acwhite.com. I'm sure he is familiar with Georgia Home Mov...

Re: accuracy of online reviews

Very good responses Jeff and Bill. One point you made Jeff, that I think a lot of people overlook is that Van Lines, and any legitimate business relies on repeat business and word of mouth... Scammers are quite the opposite. They know that they will only get one shot, so they try to fleece as much a...

I remember they were a pain, because a lot of claims on damaged tempurpedics were due to the shipper mishandling them prior to the move.
