Re: Two small moves vs one big move

What you may want to do is put the first half in storage. When you're ready to move, have the second half loaded onto a truck, then have it get the first half from storage, and take both shipments as one to destination. You can find a local mover who is van line affiliated who can give you a written...

Re: Advise on State to File Small Claims California or Jersey

I know this is old, but since I live in California, and have had to respond to several small claims...The rule is that you need to file the suit in the county where the scam has occurred. I don't know about New Jersey, but you can check with your state office of consumer affairs....

Re: Unified Van Lines - Deceased Relative

Has this issue been resolved? What is the name of the United Agency that has the difficulties? Moverescue should be able to help you, but since you dealt with an agency of United Van Lines, you should contact the headquarters in Fenton, Missouri. The reason is if an agency is having problems; they h...

Re: Scammed... don't know what to do

I am not familiar with the moving laws in Georgia, but I would offer that I have a friend in the Atlanta area that can help you. Archie White is the owner of AC White Relocations. He has five branches in Georgia. You can email him at archiew@acwhite.com. I'm sure he is familiar with Georgia Home Mov...

Re: accuracy of online reviews

Very good responses Jeff and Bill. One point you made Jeff, that I think a lot of people overlook is that Van Lines, and any legitimate business relies on repeat business and word of mouth... Scammers are quite the opposite. They know that they will only get one shot, so they try to fleece as much a...

I remember they were a pain, because a lot of claims on damaged tempurpedics were due to the shipper mishandling them prior to the move.

Re: Move from CA to FL - Have some questions

I am up the street from Redondo Beach. Having retired from the moving industry after 26 years, I can say that I am familiar with both Golden Eagle, and Berger Allied. I was with Hidden Valley Mayflower in Escondido. You mentioned you are on a narrow street with parking only on side side. You did not...

I feel new too. I have been a contributor here since 2003, and haven't been too active since I retired in 2015. I discovered one thing about retirement, though.... Everyone is ecstatic when Friday arrives, because they get the weekend off. In retirement, I haven't had a day off since I retired... lol

Re: Black Belt Movers San Diego

Sorry I am just now seeing this. There are a lot of movers in San Diego that are flying under the radar, so be careful. A lot of misconception is that van line agents charge more. While it is true that the rates may be a couple of dollars more with some agents; the main reason is that Van Line agent...

Re: Oakland to NY...Whats best?

Hey Jeff. It has been a rough couple of months. I have been dealing with life threatening health issues. I am thankful to say they have been nipped in the bud, and my strength and energy are returning.

Thanks for asking.

Re: Oakland to NY...Whats best?

Does anyone know if this individual had a successful move? I wish I had checked the site around that time. Having lived in Oakland for 40 years until 2006, I certainly could have given some good info.. Oakland is a large Port city, and numerous freight companies abound there. ABF would have been an ...

Re: JK....pick up and delivery, day and night.

I am very familiar with JK. Are you speaking of the one in Virginia? I am shocked by the fact that a driver tried to put a 53 ft trailer on a cul de sac. Usually if there is not a straight shot in where the driver can back up, he will request a shuttle. Did your delivery show up on a weekend; where ...

i am surprised that this company took the action they did. There is very clear guidelines in the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. 537. Enforcement of storage liens [Sec. 306] (a) Liens. (1) Limitation on foreclosure or enforcement. A person holding a lien on the property or effects of a servicemembe...

Re: Moving companies in the Inland Empire area (CA)

The movers shown are good movers. If you are looking to move locally, it is not necessary to go strictly based on van lines, because each mover performing moves in California has to have a California PUC permit. You can go to the California PUC site, and search moving companies to see if a company i...
