Re: NorthStar Moving, Chatsworth, CA

Farrah, I thought the 50 mile law only applied to Long Distance moves? Is it a law in California to do this for local moves as well?

Re: Should I buy my own trailer?

I used a 24ft trailer behind my F-250 diesel for several years with my moving company. I was able to squeeze in about an average 1750 sq ft home. Remember that I was doing this everyday and packing that much into a 24ft trailer (6'8" inside height) was no easy task but it can be done.

Re: Farewell to the moving industry

I am sure I will still be checking in but the new 50 hr work week will limit that time a bit. TIME 2 MOVE will not be continuing on since technically I am TIME 2 MOVE. It isn't worth enough to try to sell it to a new owner so everything will just be sold off. :(

Farewell to the moving industry

I have been considering for the last year or so on whether or not this is the right business for me. I finally came to the conclusion that I can make a lot more money (and have a lot less stress) going back to my old job. I hope my advice helped at least one or two of ya over the last couple of year...

Re: Arizona to Los Angeles move - need recommendation

We have a tight group of 4 movers here that refer moves back and forth whenever we are overbooked. Many of the customers that I have refered over to Camelback have reported a good experience. They are probably the 2nd best moving company in Phoenix, next to me of course. I think he has 5 trucks now ...

Re: Arizona to Los Angeles move - need recommendation

I know the owner personally and he wouldn't do something like that. I know it happens a lot on here but I told him about this site long ago so if he was going to do it, it would have been then.

Re: All My Sons Denver recomendations or problems?

I just did a move here for a customer with a 4000 sq ft home. We kept finding $1 bills randomly stuffed under couch cushions or under TV's. It took us a while to figure out why but we heard them later saying that "All of our dollars are still here so I guess they aren't thieves." Of course none of m...

Re: Boston to Phoenix

No matter who you end up using just remember, in Arizona if there is a problem with a company making up ficticious weight receipts or not having weight receipts at all, the Dept. of weights and measures can be contacted. They will show up on the spot with officers if necessary. This only applies for...

Re: From San Diego to Bay Area (Santa Clara)

I have tried some of the smaller phone books and they don't work at all. About 20% of our moves come from referrals but other than that we rely almost completely on internet sites for our new customers. I haven't been able to find any other decent way to advertise and the main yellow pages is just w...

Re: From San Diego to Bay Area (Santa Clara)

I have tried the same argument here Don. I advertise with a few of those sites and it is VERY difficult getting business from them because of the liars listed with them. I did ask for a quote from PHX to Las Vegas and got quotes for a 3 bedroom home as low as $1500. Not bad I'd say, $.19/lb. LOL Any...

Re: HELP! What options do I have in service delay (Dahill / Mayflower)

Now this is just getting dumber by the minute. Don, stop and think for a second. Even you will have problems like this so get off your high horse. If you have all your trucks full and one breaks down, you might not have a choice. For example I just got back from California last night for a move from...

Re: HELP! What options do I have in service delay (Dahill / Mayflower)

Wow, attacking the same movers that were trying to help him. One moving company messed up his order and now suddenly it is "commonplace in the industry." Just like Lee/Archie (not sure which one) said before. Look at the airline industry and try to say that moving companies have a delay problem. All...

Re: 110% law - enforcement?

I don't know much about California but the pros will be along shortly to fill you in. I know that in Arizona the Dept. of Weights and Measures will step in if the mover tries any funny business about the weight. You might want to check with them or the California PUC. I don't know if they would be a...

Re: HELP! What options do I have in service delay (Dahill / Mayflower)

Maybe they had a large move going your way that cancelled. You never know. In that case obviously, they could not send a 53ft semi truck across the country with only your shipment, they would lose thousands. Like Michael said, this is not a scam, a scam would involve huge charges at the end that you...
