Re: Moving from VA to OR
In order to guarantee a window, you have to do dedicated service (where your load is the only one on the truck) which is exorbitantly expensive. If you have a guaranteed window from at least two companies, those are likely going to fit your needs best, if you can work around those dates. A pro will ...

Re: In Need of Scam help
It sounds like they already have all the stuff and are due to deliver soon. You don't say who the company is. Did they ask you to sign new paperwork on loading day? Scammers are successful at this because they know you will pay to get your stuff. You don't want them to drive back to Chicago with eve...

Re: Moving from VA to OR
I think you're going to have to be more flexible. You're in the peak busy season and there are so many loads being handled right now that nobody is going to be able to bend for your needs without a significant price increase. Also consider that a chock-full moving industry means any little delay can...

Re: Any reviews of Collins Bros Moving out of NY?
WAIT!!!! Collins Brothers is an Atlas agent, which explains why they don't carry their own interstate license. Please continue your talks with them! If at all possible, you should get two more in-home estimates. If you can't possibly get anyone to send an estimator to your place because it is small...

It may still be the same company. Ask them for their DOT and MC license numbers.

Re: Complaints against moving companies on the rise
I have to say, though, that having been at this site for more than a decade, there are significantly fewer complaints being written here than there used to be. Seems 2005-8 were the worst years.

Re: Is Vanlines USA Moving & Storage a legit company?
This company has technically only been licensed since Feb 29. They revived an old license not active since 1999, using a shelf corporation in FL. Best to cancel according to thwur written policy, get your deposit back, and find a mover in your current town who will.come to your house to see everythi...

Re: Move from Ca to KS
I guess you're right. m Maybe send a fax and print the confirmation report just to be sure, or get a response email from them confirming they are cancelling. You're well within the timeframe. First, go to the Superlist for CA (go back to the Open Community and look just above your post, CA is on pag...

Re: Giant Van Lines is Back
I don't really see any indication that they are actually operating. The website could just be a linkfarm by now. They aren't registered with the MD Dept of Taxation, the website is owned by a generic guy in Baltimore, the website leads nowhere, and the text seems to have been copied from a canadian ...

In case you're wondering about what I said, here is Alliance's record. Check out the number of complaints. They aren't even in CA, they're in NY.

Re: Move from Ca to KS
Good call! We've had several complaints about Alliance. Did they tell you they were a broker and not the actual mover? Send them a certified letter, return receipt requested, canceling your move with them. You don't have to be fancy, just say you will not be using their services and you will be expe...

Re: Moving from VA to OR
Make sure you cancel with the broker by sending a certified letter return receipt requested to their office. Over the phone or by email often isn't enough. I'm not sure you can make that price, but if you're willing to do the labor yourself then I recommend calling ABF or Broadway Express. I've used...
