Moving out of house - Need storage

My suggestion is to hire a full-service moving company to store your household furnishings and cartons while looking for your new home. The primary reason I feel this is best has to do with liability. The mover will be responsible for everything from the time they pickup until the final delivery. I ...

Chicago to San Jose (CA) : Allied vs United

Not quite sure why there is such a difference in cost. Thinking it might have to do with a different minimum weight being used to compute the charges. Are both companies quoting the same weight for your shipment? Is there a difference in the pickup and delivery dates on the estimates you received? I...

Boston to Long Island

I am making the assumption the CWT rebate terminology used on the particular estimate received by this customer is how the price reduction for the Not-to-Exceed estimate is calculated. For example, the shipment is estimated to weigh 10000 pounds and the CWT rebate is $35.00 per 100 pounds. If the sh...

Moving from LA to TN

I beg to differ with you Jeff. In my opinion, most movers are happy to handle small moves and many have programs just for that sector of the business. Customer just has to call around or reach out online to legitimate movers and they will find someone quite happy to assist with their small move at w...

Re: 1br apt + car transport Austin TX to Kansas City MO

Just ran a few numbers and I am thinking that, depending on the dates you need to load, you are getting reasonable quotes for your move. Your mover should be able to assist with relocating your vehicle using a reputable car carrier.

My son recently needed to move from Stamford CT to New York City due to a change in his career. As a side note, he is the manager of a men's clothing store in Manhattan and I am very proud of his success in retail. Tried to get him to be a moving consultant like me but the world of retail was more a...

Progressive Relocation Systems Review

I really wish the BBB would do a better job of researching these companies. This is atrocious that they even allow ratings of an "A" when there is so much information out there. They seem, to assist in the fraud on the consumers. Does the BBB do ANY research on a company or do they totally rely on ...

Getting in home estimates- spacings between appointments.

Actually, I disagree with your thought process. I think you are best to get all of your quotes and then evaluate each one on its own merit. Some of my customers have even setup a spreadsheet to do this. I am very surprised than no one did the quote in your home. I look at that as my opportunity to e...

MERRY CHRISTMAS to my industry friends and associates!

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and since the world did not end on Friday, best wishes for a fantastic year in 2013. May all the movers have lots of business and make a profit. Do volume and profit still go together in the same sentence? Enjoy your holidays.

Getting in home estimates- spacings between appointments.

Sharing a salesperson's estimate with another salesperson is totally and completely unfair to the original salesperson. I have customers offer them to me and I decline the opportunity. Part of it is that I only have confidence in my own estimating abilities and do not want to be swayed by others. Mo...

Destination shuttle service, if needed, is included. The TPG Tariff is based on the ALLV 2A Tariff and that can be found on the Allied Van Lines website under Customer Support.

urgently need advice on last-minute move

So the North American guy takes his time to come out and do the estimate, he finds a way to service the shipment even though it is a last munte move in May and the van lines have many dates shut down, then the customer takes his work to Moovers and they beat the price by $300.00 so the customer is t...

Allied Shipping by Air Freight?

I am thinking you may have misunderstood the Allied sales rep or he mispoke. As noted, the program is called Allied Express. Shipments are picked up by the agent @ origin on a specific day , containerized, transported in a truck via a freight carrier to destination, and then delivered by the Allied ...
