Traveling With Your Pet

DRIVING WITH YOUR PETS We recently moved 3,200 miles with our 2 cats which took us 8 days. There are some important things to consider when getting your furbabies ready to go. 1. The far most important step is to take your pet to their vet about 2 weeks before leaving. It's very important to let yo...

Re: Compensation from ABF

Good, Julia - that was speedy! With your permission I'm going to post this on our ABF thread right after your original post telling about the problems you had with delay and so on. I think consumers need to know that ABF behaved responsibly. You should just start a new thread on "How to move with c...

Compensation from ABF

I'm happy to report that after contacting ABF and telling them of our moving difficulties we were contacted immediately and offered compensation. In my opinion, any company that takes the time to 'hear' a customer and offer to make things right absolutly deserves a good report and perhaps a second ...

Re: ABF Update - Seattle to Florida

Julia, thanks for the clarification. I'm going to try to help out. Please don't get mad at me, because I am on your side, OK? Diane ~ I did not mean to give the impression that I was upset at you about anything .... I appreciate all your responses, though I'm not sure what anyone would be able to d...

Re: ABF Update - Seattle to Florida

Did you use less than 16 linear feet? If so, based on its original quote the company should have subtracted $175 for each linear foot that you didn't use. This is the problem (as I stated in my first update post) ... We DID NOT USE THE ENTIRE 16L ft, and since we were unable to be there when they p...

Re: ABF Update - Seattle to Florida

$400 of the extra money that ABF charged you over the quoted price was for home delivery of the trailer in an area of Florida where people normally have to pick their things up at a terminal. NO. The $400.00 was included the second quote via phonecall to Tampa. It was the space we used, which was a...

ABF Update - Seattle to Florida

After seeing the positive feedback at epinoins.com, we felt ABF (U-PACK MOVING) would be the best choice for us. ABF was NOT the least expensive mover we contacted and we liked the idea of packing our own things and locking the bulkhead that would separate our load from the other commercial loads w...

Update ABF (Seattle to Tampa) - Great News

I could not be more thrilled tonight, thanks to the help I've found on this board and ABF Movers . The "Nutshell Version": We are using ABF for our move to Florida, but since we do not live in ABF's service area, we were going to pick up at the Tampa terminal, transfer to a U-Haul and then up to ou...

Re: Seattle to Florida - Getting Desparate to Find a Mover

Jake, Did you get a quote from www.value-move.com or Broadway Express? I just think picking your stuff up at a terminal is a step that can be eliminated. You also have to consider the price you will have to rent a truck in FL, pick your items up, and deliver them to your house. Good luck! Great New...

Re: $7,000.00 for a U-Haul?

Jake, I am sure there are not any companies (national) to move you the furthest you can possible move in the US any cheaper then ABF. BUT, there are plenty of great companies in the Seattle area. Best of luck, It's not all about cost, it has to do with feedback as well. Every full service mover we ...

Re: Seattle to Florida - Getting Desparate to Find a Mover

Jake, Can you please let me know where you are moving from and how much weight you have? Also, when do you plan on moving? Have you tried your local movers to load for you? I can't see how a house to terminal option is a right choice. You are going to double handle every item you own, load, unload,...

Except for my furniture, I packed all my belongings into action packers that would stack easily and b...
