Re: Our experience with Movex/Generic Trucking from NC to TX

Kathy- feel free to get in touch with us via regular mail -- I believe you have our new address! With all due respect, I wouldn't actually call my second post a re-evaluation. My impressions haven't particularly changed, but I did realize I might have come across as having suffered a greater injusti...

Re: Our experience with Movex/Generic Trucking from NC to TX

Although there were definitely unneccessary inconveniences involved in our move, I wouldn't say that we suffered to such an extent that I would expect or request any sort of compensation from Movex or Generic Trucking. In fact, I would say that our own unrealistic expectations contributed significan...

Re: Our experience with Movex/Generic Trucking from NC to TX

IMP, do you think I should mention this to Movex? I don't like to complain needlessly, but it's good to hear that it wasn't just my perception that she didn't handle driving in residential areas well. Actually, it's probably worth at least telling Movex that one of the Generic Trucking drivers is cl...

Our experience with Movex/Generic Trucking from NC to TX

I'm finally able to post here about how my move went! First let me say thank you so much to everyone here for all the good information that turned out to be so valuable, and thanks to IMP for coming by our new place during the unload in Houston to tell me I wasn't crazy about directions and make me ...

Re: Self-Pack Move from Chicago to New Hampshire

I've just completed a move using Movex, and hope to post my full story in a day or two (once the boxes have been cleared out to lower than chest high in the new place), but I do have a few tips for now. I had kind of counted on being able to get substantial help from the driver, either hiring him to...

Re: Providing directions to the moving van driver?

Thanks for the feedback, Diane and IMP. IMP - I've PM'd you if you want more info. I get the feeling that the problem with our driver is she simply isn't very good. She hasn't exactly been rude or complaining, but she has been difficult and unpleasant to deal with, and was not as helpful as we'd hop...

Providing directions to the moving van driver?

Hi there- I've been planning on writing up a review of our move once it's all over (we're using Movex, with Generic Trucking as the actual shipper) since I've found these boards invaluable, but a question has arisen that I wanted to check out with you folks before our load gets delivered to our dest...
