Re: Graebel - Moving from St. Louis, Mo to SC.

What makes them cheaper? How do you know they are cheaper? Are you just looking at the bottom line? I can sell you cheaper tires by 25-45% then the next guy. But mine might be used, with 50% tread left on them. My point, compare weights, packing and any additional services you were quoted. Then come...

Re: When Is Payment Made for Moving?

If paying by credit card, most companies, or many will run your credit card prior to delivery. Many factors come into play. Who is the company, what type of move is it, local, inter, intra?

Personally, I dont think Atlas or any other parent company would. Archie, do you think United would cover something you booked and cancelled?

Concentrate on whats in front of you and let this Atlas thing go. It will just cause more heartache and frustration.

Best of luck with Bekins.

Re: **2 Days Before Scheduled Move of 20,000 lbs Atlas cancels on us!!! OMG

Here is what I think and there is a recent post about it for a move from LA to OR. Lets say Atlas picked it up, stored it and held it until they could find a driver. Shipment sits and sits. Now customer becomes pissed his goods are sitting there and havent been delivered. They want a discount, they ...

Re: North American Van Lines: delayed delivery claims?

NAVL, does like they said if over 3500. If not over 3500 they could do a good faith reimbursement, but thats up to the agent, not the van line.

Re: Need Help Comparing Estimates-New Jersey

If it is NAVL, Allied and NAVL use the same pricing mechanism, so it wouldnt be a good way to compare. Both companies can give you their quality scores, ask for those. Look beyond price at this point. Who were you more comfortable with, who seemed to give you a more accurate estimate. Who is more de...

Re: Need Help Comparing Estimates-New Jersey

One quote is non binding, the less weight quote. So ask them to give you a quote based on the higher weight and have them give you a guarantee not to exceed. Then see where they match up. Theat is a huge weight discrepency. Nothing to compare really right now, lol.

Re: Deadlines for booking

Just for the record, you're not being pressured, your being advised that we are in the middle of the busy season and companies do have close off dates as well as cut off dates on pricing. If you want to take your time and play their bluff, if thats what you think they are doing, then best of luck. F...

North Carolina Stepping up / NC Intrastate and locals

House Bill 311 was ratified by the General Assembly. The act becomes effective on October 1, 2011. The new law will result in some minor changes for certificated movers but the final result will be its ability to stem the tide of illegal movers ability to flourish within our state. The bill adds thr...

Re: Question on quotes if unsure of moving date?

To answer question one. Most movers will give you a quote based at current rates and pricing. Your better consultants will explain to you peak dates, peak cost and how it has looked for their company to date. Meaning do they see an increase in peak rates or lower discounts during particular weeks. I...
