Re: Giant Screen TV Stolen - what is my recourse?

Tyrone is actually a Latin professor turned moving advocate!

He is far from being in the moving industry!

Re: local chicagoland movers

You have much less to worry about being that you are doing a local move. Try to get an estimator to visit your house and do an estimate for you. You should expect to pay by the hour depending on the number of men and trucks you need. They can move exactly what you want them to, so you moving boxes w...

Re: Mayflower Forwarders

Diane is mistaken on a few points here: "The Mayflower service you are considering charges by the linear foot (and the distance traveled), not by weight." No, it sounds like this option Mayflower is giving her exclusive use of a 48' trailer so her will not be billed per linear foot. "1. There are mo...

Re: Review: All Chicagoland United and Ace United

I honestly don't know what system they use to determine the value, but being that these were PBO's and United didn't know what contents were actually in the boxes, this made sense to me. I am not in claims so I really don't know. I would think the furniture would be much easier to determine the FVR ...

Re: Review: All Chicagoland United and Ace United

First of all, I don't know the dollar amount claimed and the dollar amount United compensated you, but see if any of what I am going to say makes sense: Let's say you took out $20,000 FVR coverage for your shipment. If your entire shipment was "lost", that is the most you would have been compensated...

Re: Charlotte, NC to Sterling, VA advice

You don'y have to worry who is hauling your shipment. When it is a close move such as yours, some van lines require their agents to haul it with their own trucks. I think that is a good thing personally. His link should be: http://www.wemove4u.com I think Michael is in Raleigh though, not Charlotte ...

We are reaching the max allowable surcharge for a few states.

Ruges,

Do you know which states and what the maximums are? I have never heard of that but will be good to know.

Re: Tip the driver at pick-up?

A guy picking up your vehicle is not a mover!

I would not tip him at pick up. I would wait until the job is done and tip according to your satisfaction.

A fair tip for an auto transporter would be between $20-$40.

Re: no inventory or delivery of smoke damaged items by Mayfl

They have offered to give me a percentage of my total valuation ($20,000) equal to the percentage of the weight they deliver (we don’t know how much yet) without doing an itemized claim form. But I underestimated the replacement value of my belongings, and I think that the replacement value of the ...

I do a lot of Chicago moves every week and my rule of thumb is that if your address is less than 4 digits, it needs shuttled.

Is Monroe near Toledo? Where are you moving to?

On your contract, what is your delivery window?
