Avoiding cockroaches when you move

I couldn't find a topic like this so decided to make one. Has anyone here successfully moved out of a cockroach-infested place without bringing the infestation to their new place? I've got a move planned for next month and if those nasty things come along I'd just lose it

I found some tips from pest control companies, but don't know if it's worth the effort. Anyone try any of these?
