Termites

I've just faced the unpleasant situation while moving to our new house. I've noticed that we have termites in our basement's wooden constructions. Unfortunately, we spent all our money to buy the house and some furniture. We won't have resources to afford the professional exterminator, so I'll have to handle by myself. I read in this article that termites can be damaged by such home remedies as boric acid and Termidor fipronil foam. Does everybody know other means to get rid of those termites? I'll have money for the pest control service in a month or two, so what should I do till then?
