Postby Jeff.Walker » Tue Jul 16, 2013 3:31 pm

On Thursday, July 25th at 1am (CST), MovingScam.com will be down for maintenance for approximately 3 -4 hours while we migrate to new servers and update the website. Provided all goes as planned, we should be back online Thursday, July 25th at 5am (CST). Thank you for your patience while we work to improve your experience at MovingScam.com

Jeff & Tim,
Love the new look. The site looks clean and sharp.
Congrats to you both.

Thanks Bill! We're still working on it, but we are excited about the new site and how much easier it will be for users.

I'm still getting used to it! I'm a creature of habit.

I know, and I apologize for the magnitude of the change, it is quite dramatic.

Movinghelper mentioned several things he felt could be improved as well, and we are working on them as time permits. At the moment, we still have several back end functions and features that are not working as intended, so we'll need to iron those out first. This should not affect the new user experience.

Once we feel everything is working properly, we're going to make some changes to the menus at the top, dividing articles up in a more sensible fashion so that new articles don't burry the ones we feel contain the most applicable information for consumer use. After that we'll need to take a good look at the site functionality and decide whether or not some features are getting in the way of others and adjust them accordingly. This will be a work in progress for a while, but we feel the new site is better organized than the old one, sits on newer, better hardware, and is upgradeable in a timely fashion. Something the old site wasn't capable of doing due to outdated hardware and software.

We are very much open to feedback on the new site, and welcome comments that address what people do and don't like about the new site so we can better get an understanding of what is needed as we move forward. All we ask is that we keep the criticism constructive so that we can all work on this together.

The list of endorsed movers takes up almost half the screen, and the smaller messages are harder to follow. Maybe I need a bigger screen?

The endorsed movers section was increased so that people wouldn't have to scroll down several pages to find the mover they were looking for, but this issue has already been brought to our attention and we are working on a fix. On my screen, this section only takes up about 1/3 of the screen, but everyone is using different hardware so it's understandable that a few people might be having issues.

Tim suggested that we may need to increase the message board font size, but we're looking into several options.
