Two small moves vs one big move

Postby billnthelma » Tue Jan 15, 2019 9:17 pm

We have a situation where it might be advantageous to move half of the household now and the remaining half in 2 or 3 months. Moving from North VA to East TN. Dont have any pressure to vacate. Already own house in TN. looking to make things easier on an elderly parrent. The question. Will two smaller moves be twice the cost of one big move? If not twice the cost, will the cost difference be significant?

What you may want to do is put the first half in storage.
When you're ready to move, have the second half loaded onto a truck, then have it get the first half from storage, and take both shipments as one to destination.

You can find a local mover who is van line affiliated who can give you a written estimate [based on them coming out to survey everything], of the move, based on each segment.. Or they can give you one estimate including the pickup and loading to storage, then loading residence to storage, then from storage to destination.
