Three agents are no longer affiliated with this van line:

California: Cor-O-van, San Fransisco(Nevil and Colonial too)
Virginia:Lynne Moving and Storage, Newport News
Minnesota:Winona Moving and Storage, Minnesota City

They gained an agent in Virginia: Tanner Van Lines INC., Richmond, VA

Rick,

I have to disagree with you. If you type: www.navl.com it will bring you to the home site for North American Van Lines.

I think Cor-O-Van is now independent and is longer into the household side of the the business.

As for the other two, I think they may have gone out of business. Either Promover or Smatwilly might know of their current status.

Most consumers do not know what a SCAC code is - some in the industry may not even know what a SCAC code is - unless they are heavily involved with military shipments. I understood the title was referring to North American Van Lines.

I can understand why you would bring it up in that case!! :P

NAVL has lost another agent to Atlas and this one surprised me. Wayne Moving and Storage located in West Chester, PA (suburb of Philadelphia) changed colors in just the last 2 weeks. Right now NAVL dos not have an agent to service North East MD, Delaware, southern New Jersey or South East Pennsylvania.

NAVL, has been losing agents since early last year, as Allied has as well. To me, in my eyes with some that has been lost, good riddance. But, I see a lot more of Allied than I do North American as it is. It seems that Allied has come out as a dominant carrier between the two. That is not saying that NAVL does not have any good agents, which they have some very high quality agents still in their system. Some of the agents from Allied and NAVL seem to have left in a knee jerk reaction to the bankruptcy that SIRVA itself went through.

I hear almost daily of others folding their tents, we almost need a movers obituary section. When times are tough, you can either increase your revenue, or lower your costs, neither of which is easy to do. Wonder how the scammers are doing, they have an advantage over legit movers, they can increase their revenue just by raising their scam threshold. The guy driving the truck, in a thick foreign accent can just say...." look lady, deese stuff youa sheeped takkin up mucha more a cubes than you tole us over da internets, we gonna have to charga you more, lotsa more....instead of $1250 to move 4 rooms coast to coast, it'sa nowa gonna be-a $12,000 now pay up or I breaka you china cabinet"

sorry if the accent sounds italian, it's not supposed to....

The problem is Sirva itself. I am shocked that the agents have not bonded together and proposed to purchase the household side. Banks have money to lend now and the interest rates are relatively low and I can not imagine why Sirva would say no. They apparently prefer the Allied brand and they could go back and call themselves Allied Worldwide again. With regards to Wayne, I met the VP of Wayne years ago and he was not thrilled with Sirva back then. I am surprised they decided to leave for Atlas now, I thought if they were going to bolt, they would have done it in 2004. They had a long history with NAVL as they were originally known as Lauderbaugh and were one of the original agents from the start - 1933.
