**Joyce Van Lines: Review

Postby jbmill3 » Fri Mar 05, 2010 8:28 pm

I used Joyce Van Lines for a move from Boston, MA to Louisville, KY in December 2009. I found this movingscam website when we were searching for moving companies, and I thought this site was extremely helpful, so I wanted to come back here and share our experience with Joyce.

We could not have been happier with the service they provided. I dealt with their office in CT--primarily with Bill Adams, who was fantastic. I was somewhat unsure about using someone who wasn't based in Boston, but Bill had no problem driving up to give an in-home estimate at our convenience.

We got quotes from Joyce along with three or four other highly-regarded local Boston moving companies (highly regarded based on reviews here at movingscam.com). Joyce provided the lowest quote for our move (and was willing to offer the quote at a guaranteed fixed rate). In addition, they were willing to guarantee that our furniture would be delivered in only three days--the other companies we spoke with gave us delivery estimates ranging from 6-7 days to 3+ weeks!

Honestly, the combination of the lowest quote and the fastest delivery made me somewhat skeptical--I was raised to believe that you usually get what you pay for, and I know lots of horror stories of interstate moving companies who over-promise and under-deliver. I strongly considered going with another company, just because the quote from Joyce seemed "too good to be true." But it was really important for us to get our furniture as quickly as possible (because I was only going to be in Louisville for a few days before heading out of town for several weeks, and I wanted to be able to help my wife unpack), and with everyone else telling us 6-7 days (or longer), I was willing to give Joyce a try. Plus, I had read very positive reviews of their company here on movingscam, which gave me a lot more confidence that they weren't just blowing smoke with their estimates.

We had a full service move, with full packing. The packing crew was very friendly, and did a fantastic job--they packed all our things safely and with care, and nothing was harmed in the move. Ditto with the moving crew, who showed up the next day.

Our shipment ended up being significantly above the estimated weight, but Joyce honored their guaranteed price estimate, no questions asked. Also, our furniture did indeed show up at exactly the promised time and date, which was fantastic.

There was one minor hiccup in unloading the truck--the movers chipped some plaster off a wall trying to carry a large crib through a narrow hallway. But they were very apologetic, and Joyce sent me a check for the full amount of the repair quote within a week of my submitting a claim form--no hassles, and they were very friendly and professional about the whole thing. So the wall is now back to its original state--no harm, no foul, in my opinion.

Overall, we were thrilled with the move, and I'm extremely happy we went with Joyce instead of any of the other companies we spoke with--there was literally no way the move could have worked out better. I would recommend Joyce Van Lines to anyone looking for interstate movers.

Well, thank you so much for coming back to let us know how it went, and I'm very glad to hear that your move went so well and your wall is once again whole!

I'm sure Bill will be happy to know that all went well. Our company works with Joyce for storage in the San Diego area, and we've always had positive interactions.
