H I'm moving long distance (Northern VA to LA) and am trying to find an independent mover. I've got a quote from one reputable independent mover and am getting quotes from two van lines, but I'd really like to find another independent mover to get a quote from- but I can't find any. I've tried every google search term I can and simply can't find an independent mover that does cross county moves- the ones on the internet that do appear to do them don't seem to be companies I'd trust.
I'd appreciate any help anyone can give.

Re: independent movers
Hi mstanton,
Is there some reason you are so interested in hiring an independent? Not that this is bad, but this is an area you really need to be careful with, as most scam movers are independents (but not the other way around). Van lines have usually been around for a while, and don't have any interest in cheating you, as they want your repeat business and word of mouth reviews of their successes. That being said, a good independent moving company is usually out to prove themselves and you can sometimes find a better mover.
Despite their name, Joyce Van Lines (on the left) is an independent mover and they move all over the country. Marathon Moving is also an independent mover out of MA, and we have had a lot of success with them. Lastly, you might try Gentle Giant, which isn't in our Endorsed moving company list, but has a great reputation nation wide, and is also an independent.
This should give you enough for 3 quotes. Come back when you have your quotes if you have any questions and we can go over them with you.

Re: independent movers
Thanks Jeff. I'm not set on getting an independent mover, I'm also getting estimates from two van lines. I didn't know Joyce Van Lines is independent, so I'll ask them- I'll have two estimates from van lines and two from independents, should be able to figure something out.
Thanks again for your reply.
