Small moves from Palo Alto area to Washington DC, any recommendations on company

Hi, I am trying to move a few pieces of furniture (desk, multiple chairs, a kitchen table, a cabinet) plus a bunch of boxes from the Palo Alto, CA area to Washington, DC. Movers seem to request payment for a minimum of 3500 pounds which I don't think I will meet. Anybody had a great experiences with maybe smaller movers or movers that specialize in small moves across the country? I just don't really want to pay thousands in extra costs...Thanks!
