If you have found yourselves completely cut off from contact from either of these companies, unfortunately you have been abandoned by your shippers. The Federal Maritime Commission is involved, and here is information you need to hopefully track down your belongings.

Echo Trans World, Inc. Consumer Alert

June 19, 2012

The Commission has received a growing number of complaints regarding Echo Trans World, Inc., FMC license number 019522, registered to operate in New York, NY. In recent days, it appears the phone numbers provided to communicate with Echo Trans World are not in service or the message boxes are full. In addition, several shippers and Commission employees have tried to communicate via email, but have not received responses from Echo Trans World.

If you have arranged for international shipment of household goods or personal effects with Echo Trans World, you should immediately contact the Commission's Office of Consumer Affairs and Dispute Resolution Services by phone at 202-523-5807 or by email at complaints@fmc.gov. CADRS will make every attempt to locate your goods and determine the status of your shipment.
Our office has located your cargo shipped with Unity Van Lines. To retrieve your shipment, please contact Julien at Advance Warehouse – Tel: (201) 991-9195. Advance Warehouse assures us there are no charges to retrieve your shipment from their warehouse. However, you will need to make arrangements for the delivery of your cargo from the warehouse to your intended destination. See below a link to our agency’s list of FMC licensed and bonded entities so that you can find companies able to ship your cargo - http://www2.fmc.gov/oti/. If you are not able to access the list of licensed and bonded companies through the link I provided, please visit our website at www.fmc.gov. At the tab of menus in blue at the top, click on “Resources” and then click on “List of FMC-compliant OTIs.”
