Postby theterrible » Mon May 05, 2008 11:45 am

Hi,
I need to move household contents from Nothern to Southern suburbs of Chicago. Are there any suggestions for good mooving company. Has anyone heard of Hollander International?

Check out the Superlist for "Illinois" linked to under my name. Hollander appears on that list. Two companies in Chicago where I have personally talked with owners and managers are Affordable and Bradtke, and I think they are good. However, they may be on the pricey side. Make sure that any company you use is licensed and insured. You can check with Pat McLaughlin of the IL movers' association about this; her contact info is also on the Superlist.

They are 120 years old, and a well known, well respected agent for United Van Lines. They are one of those old timey movers where you can call them and ask for Mr. ( name of the company) and he, or his son, grandson, or great-grandson will come to the phone. Try that with a scammer and see who comes to the phone.

The Superlist button was requested quite some time ago. You know how that is, Rick.

OK..I found the superlist :D . By the way is anyone has experience with "All my sons"? So far I am impressed with their sales person.
Another naive question. Representatives from two moving companies already told me that they are "not allowed by law" to give binding quotations. What law are they referring to? Could such law be a legal one?

Binding quotes are not legal for moves taking place within IL. See the Superlist. - Also, be careful not to choose a mover based solely on price.
