I'm moving a large one bedroom (about 4000lbs) from Philadelphia, PA to San Mateo, CA in January.
I've gotten estimates from a number of local companies - all agents for various big moving companies. The folks I like best so far are
AMERICAN WAY MOVING SYSTEMS
260 HANSEN ACCESS ROAD
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA 19406
Phone: (610) 265-5500
Fax: (610) 265-4794
Toll Free: (800) 836-6683
Does anyone have an experience with these folks? Any advice for a first time mover?
Thanks,
Rourke

Re: American Way - Philly Area Mayflower Agent
Hello Rourke
American Way is an agent of Mayflower Transit. They have been an agent for Mayflower since 1994.
Our agency hauling fleet often hauls shipments for them, and we are often used by them for destination services in the SF Bay Area. We have not had any complaints on any services we have asked them to perform for us, or of any of their customers.
Going into San Mateo, there are also quality agents located there.

Rourke,
My only recommendation is to get your Order for Service, your "quote" signed before December 31, 2003.
The tariff that most "majors" follow will be increasing 2.2% come January 1, 2004. But your rates are good for 60days from the day of signing should you do it before that time.
Good luck

Just keep in mind that it must be a bound estimate for that to apply.
If you sign a non binding estimate, the increase will reflect on your Bill of Lading.
