I read on another post that "no reputable moving company would ever require a deposit"...does everyone out there fully support this opinion? Might there be exceptions? (e.g., perhaps with a smaller company not affliiated with a major?)

I ask as I'm considering getting an estimate from Peacock Relocation Systems out of Chicago, who state on their (well put together & informative) website that they "require 10% of the total move cost for a deposit to put you in the books (plus any applicable box deposits, [For local moves] or any other miscellaneous packing material costs.)"

Thanks if anyone has opinions/ info on this company. It seems to check out with my research, besides the fact of being a small company I haven't seen alarm bells besides the deposit issue.

Well, take a look at this... ... ing=No&x=x

The above link demonstrates that Peacock has lost at least 15 law suits... need we say more?
