moving estimates

Postby jeninla » Wed Mar 21, 2007 11:06 am

Just wondering if anyone has heard of Crown Worldwide Moving & Storage. They're based out of Ontario, CA. From reading some posts here, it seems like they're a decent company, but there isn't much info on them (plus, the good reviews were about the company up near San Francisco). The BBB doesn't have any complaints about them. The only thing that worries me is that their estimate was lower than all the other companies that came to my place (by at least 500 pounds). Their estimate is a "Not to Exceed" one.

Other companies I looked into include: Curtis Movers (Ontario, CA), Golden Eagle (Upland), O'Neil Moving (Garden Grove); S&M Moving (Santa Fe Springs).

Thanks in advance!

They're all United companies, and you will get the same estimate from them. I would pick one of them to come and give you an in home estimate.

I would pick one company with each National Van Line and have them come and do an in home estimate.

Some of the ones with good reviews are: Delancey Street, Andy's Transfer and Storage (North American), and maybe Ace Relocation (Atlas)

I'm moving from Glendora to Chicago. Curtis Movers uses Atlas & they got the same estimate as United.

Did you have them come and do an in home estimate?

All of them did in-home estimates. Curtis, Golden Eagle & O'Neill got around 4500lbs, while Crown came under (around 3900). Even though Golden Eagle, O'Neill & Crown are all United, it makes me wonder how Crown came under weight...the O'Neill guy said he overestimated...so maybe that's why?

I'd compare the inventory lists that were filled out and see what was missed (or added).

Are all the prices they quoted the same?

That's what made me question the estimate. The inventory that Crown did doesn't look like it got everything. I'll need to go over the list again later, and ask my fiance if he told the guy to include everything.

If all the estimates are more or less the same pricewise, my personal choice would be Golden Eagle (United). It has won many awards and its owner is reportedly approachable and a straight shooter. In my opinion it is clearly a very excellent company.

Golden Eagle is a top notch outfit and the owners Tom and Bob Johnson are both great people, having dealt with them over the past 12 years.

Thanks, az ops. If I may ask, where did you work before moving to Sullivan (Mayflower) in Phoenix?

All the above agents are well known in SoCal.

Sometimes our yard looks more like a United Truck stop than a Mayflower agency.
