I'm moving from on end of Eagle Rock to another. I've contacted Delancey Street but they were only able to give me phone quote since they are busy with their Christmas Tree lot. Since this site said not to trust phone quotes, I’m nervous about accepting it. Has anyone used them lately? All the posts I've seen are from 2005.
I've also contacted Andy's Transfer & Storage. Kent Delaney came out and did an on-site estimate plus gave me loads of packing tips. Although I felt very comfortable will him, their estimate is more than I can afford.
Anyone have any other suggestions? I need to move by the end of this month.

Hi - in my opinion you can trust Delancey Street even though they could give you only a phone quote. They have MANY good reviews from 2006. See this thread - http://www.movingscam.com/forum/viewtop ... 7&start=30
I'm also glad to hear that you liked the sales rep from Andy's Transfer (Kent) - we have heard good things about him before.
You could also call a high-rated company from eMove.com to see whether they would come look at your things and move them in a rental van, but they aren't usually licensed or insured, so it's a risk. If I were you I would go with Delancey.

Thanks Diane.
Just to make sure I have the right company, I spoke to Chris Pasquera(?) at 323/662-4888

OK, I just called that number you gave. That is the number of the Delancey Street Foundation (which is on the trucks), but they put me through to the direct line moving company number, which is 323-890-2300. I spoke with Dan Jarvis, who is one of the department heads, and Chris Pasquera was there in the room. He is sort of the move coordinator/dispatcher. So yes, you spoke with the right people. Dan said that their prices are usually about in the middle of what moving companies charge in Los Angeles. They charge $71.50/hour for two guys and a truck with a two-hour minimum and each extra guy is $20.80/hour if needed.
