**Lucky Moving Co. in NJ?

Postby mama4jc » Wed May 02, 2007 12:33 pm

Hi all: We'll be moving from NJ to FL mid-June and are calling around to get quotes this week. We've heard good things about Lucky Moving Co. from 1 family but wanted to get more reviews, if possible. Has anyone used them? Moovers, University Van Lines and Wade Odell Wade are also on our call list. Thanks everyone! :)

Looks like they're based in CA and have a branch in NJ

They've been licensed since 1995 to do interstate moves.

The CA BBB they have a AAA rating and no complaints:

Not recent, but someone moved with the CA branch of Lucky from AZ to SC in August 2004 and was pleased - http://www.movingscam.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2588 Note that this was a move booked by Movex, a broker, as a freight move. In other words, it was not technically a full-service move, although one of the workers on the truck did help the customer load.

I would just be sure that Lucky is planning to have workers come into your residence and carry things from the residence to the truck and then unload them at the end.

I've meant to post this, because it was this board that convinced me to use Lucky Moving, but haven't gotten around to it until now.

I moved from Los Angeles to Albuquerque in September 2008. Lucky Moving was the best moving experience I've ever had. They had someone come to my apartment in L.A., see everything they were going to move, and give me a figure. And that figure is exactly what I ended up paying. No mysterious overages or surcharges. (By contrast, a major mover once charged me a "long distance fee" when my door was all of 25 feet from the opening in their truck.)

My only complaint is a minor one. I had a lot of cardboard document boxes. In order to reach things while unloading, one of the movers would climb over them. Fortunately (or luckily?) the boxes were strong enough, or he was light enough, that the only damage was some slight crumpling and dirty lids.

As I said, it's minor. I wouldn't hesitate to use Lucky Moving again.
