A HAPPY MOVER...WELL SORT OF......

Postby joyful18 » Mon Jun 25, 2007 4:14 pm

Hi,
I promised to write to Fred ( who has been a really great advisor) and let him and everyone else know how my move from LA to Montreal went.
First, let me tell you that Andy's Moving from Glendale was absolutely fine...and the driver that I had ( from Westmount Movers in Montreal), named GENGIZ AVCI was the best!! He and has crew both in LA and in Mtl. were just as helpful and caring as can be.

Yes, I had a serious 'hiccup' at customs here...but Gengiz patiently waited it out with me ( had an inspector who wanted to play"who shall live and who shall die". After a horrible day and mad scramble..after he demanded $7,000 from me!!) I came back the next day...with all the papers he absolutely DID NOT need...and lucky me...got a different custom inspector who said hi, stamped EVERY paper and wished me well!!! Whew...

But please know, that unpacking 20,000 lbs of household goods and art is a slow and overwhelming process. My son ( bless him) drove my car and the two dogs from LA to Mtll. and stayed on for another 10 days...I do have some wonderful friends and helpers who trickle in and slowly things are getting put away and pictures and mirrors hung etc.,.....no, I really do not plan to move again

All in all, I have to pay compliments to Andy's , from their salesrep to their office staff..I would be pleased to recommend them .......and the extra bit was the good fortune to have such a super driver who handled everything as promised and delivered on time!
Being from Canada( Quebec) and conversant in French was an added advantage.

Thanks again to all who helped me...with a special thank you to Fred!

Joy

Glad to hear you had a good move. Customs people, both directions, are hit or miss. I have seen what you describe happen many times. Something we can't control but all in all a good experience so.
Bon nuit et bien venue au Canada.

I forgot to mention that Andy's Transfer & Storage in Los Angeles is with NAVL ( North American Van Lines)....

This is to help anyone who wonders which moving companies give satisfaction in an International move.....since my experience was really good!
