Allstate Moving and Storage in Hyattsville, MD

Postby linearfish » Sat Nov 03, 2007 3:54 pm

Just wanted to give everyone in the DC/MD area a heads up about Allstate Moving and Storage in Hyattsville, MD. We used them for our long distance move from Owings Mills, MD to Oak Creek, WI. We got stuck paying $2756 when our estimate was $1890. We dealt with "David," who is about as slimy as they come.

I've copied and pasted my complaint filed on this website. So far, our complaint to the American Moving and Storage Association has produced nothing:

In addition to charging us well above the estimate, Allstate clearly violated our contract by demanding more than 110% of the estimate at the time of delivery. When we refused to pay the additional amount, Allstate held our items hostage until payment. When we agreed to pay, Allstate would not meet us at the delivery site. They chose a different location and demanded that we give them the money there before delivery. We were forced to involve law enforcement to ensure our safety and to ensure that our belongings would be delivered.
