ABC Moving, Inc. Phoenix (Allied Van Lines Agent)

Postby avionico » Thu Jun 02, 2005 1:28 pm

I would really, really appreciate if someone could give a feedback about this company. I norrowed my research and they are the company I would like to use for moving from Phoenix to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

So far they:

- Made a home visit.
- Gave me a "Guaranteed Price Pledge".
- Gave me the Rights and Responsabilities booklet.
- They are not brokers, they have their own trucks and drivers working for the Allied Van Lines network.
- The BBB report shows that this company has a Satisfactory Record.

If someone has any comments about this company, please let me know.

Thanks,

I don't have any specific knowledge about this agency, but you are unlikely to be scammed by Allied Van Lines. I would verify with Allied that they DO in fact represent them. You can do this by going on Allied's website or contacting their home office in Indiana.

The one thing you should be aware of on the type of contract, I do not believe you will pay more or less than that price. They typically do not weigh the shipments, and it is a flat guaranteed price. Some consumers select a GNTE, which is a guaranteed not to exceed. In that situation, they weigh the truck. You pay less if the weight goes under, but will not pay more.

Much important info about moving companies is passed on by word of mouth, and unfortunately we don't have anyone posting here regularly who works for Allied (that I know of). All I can say is that it is indeed an Allied agent and it seems to have been in business for a long time, which is good. There is another Allied agent with the same name in Houston. This is what it says in its BBB report:

ABC MOVING, INC.
3326 E. Wier Avenue
Phoenix, AZ 85040

Original Business Start Date: 01/01/58
New Ownership Date: 03/15/89
Principal: Richard Marsden, President
Phone Number: 602-254-7181
Fax Number: 602-243-0123
Web Site Address: www.abcphx.com [the website doesn't work]
Membership Status: yes
Date Joined BBB: 04/21/94
Type of Business: Movers

Tentatively, I would say it's OK to go ahead with them. There are two Allied agents in Phoenix--maybe if you ask a sales rep for another van line which one is better you can find out something indirectly that way.

ABC Moving has been around for a long time. All of the workers are employees of ALLIED and are not sub contracted out. They are an excellent company and will stand by their committment.

I am the one who started this lead 9 months ago.

Now I am living in Florida. ABC Moving Inc Phoenix proved to be very efficient and professional moving my belongings from Arizona to Florida. Timely pick up and delivery. They are very good answering phones and addressing any issues during the moving process. Higly recommended.

I used ABC Phoenix and they quoted me approximately 25% less than what they actually wound up charging me. NOT HAPPY! I understand there will be some variance, but 25%!!! Plus, I've been trying to contact them regarding this, the rep we worked through responded once promising to look into the discrepancy, but we haven't heard from her since that first email, even after repeated attempts, it's been weeks! I WOULD NEVER USE THESE GUYS AGAIN!

If you had a Nonbinding estimate rather than a TPG quote, you could pay more for more weight and it isn't a scam.
