credit card charge in full 48 hours before pick up of goods

Postby mary » Mon Nov 14, 2005 7:46 pm

My mover requires that we pay in full before the our goods are even loaded if we pay by credit card. Is this standard issue? They will credit us for any amount charged in excess of actual weight. This is a not-to-exceed estimate with Nor-Cal, and everything else about the estimate and charges has checked out fine, but I just don't feel comfortable about paying in full before they even load our shipment. Please comment on the usual credit card payment arrangements with good movers.

Thank you!

That is completely standard when using a credit card. It is a priviledge and the mover needs to know the funds are there.

You should also have the choice of paying upon delivery by cashiers check. You have a choice.
