Great moving experience - NY

Postby HudsonNY » Wed May 24, 2006 9:53 am

Hi folks,

I have been reading these boards for a long time researching and preparing for my move. Yesterday I just completed the move (was an instate from lower NY to upstate NY) and I have to say despite all my worries and paranoia it was the smooth and effortless experience.

I used Relocation Specialists NYDOT 634119, out of Patterson NY, (not to be confused with other Relocation Specialists located elsewhere) (845) 878-7550 - Erica was the contact person and was very professional on the phone with me - in fact, we conducted only a telephone estimate which was faxed to me for my review prior to the move. I paid exactly what was proposed despite my having in the end more boxes than originally intended (10 more or so) and a couple more pieces of furniture.

They knew the route to my new residence, did not get lost, and moved their 40 foot truck back down my long driveway without any damage to my lawn or trees. And despite having some very heavy and bulky items to move inside, they maintained a positive and professional attitude throughout the move.

Prior to contacting them I used the Safersys webpage to look up their record and insurance, as well as called to find out if they had any complaints which they did not. I also used these boards to search for any negative comments.

I want to thank the folks who maintain this webpage as it gave me the information I needed to make a safe move. The only comment I would add is that I wish more people knew this resource existed. Alot of friends I spoke to were not even aware that Movingscam was out there as an independent resource to check on moving companies.

Although I only used this company for an instate move, I do know that they also regularly do moves from NY to Florida. I hope this information helps anyone else who may need a mover in this area.

Thanks for this review, which I've added to my summary post linked to below. I'm just a little surprised that they didn't do an in-residence survey, since I gather they are located near where you lived. Was there any reason for that?
