Andy's Transfer in Glendale, CA -- Positive experience

Diane -- After the help this site gave me in finding a reputable mover, I thought I would give back by adding to the positive reviews of Andy's Transfer and Storage in Glendale, CA.

My family and I just moved from Los Angeles to Portland using Andy's, and the experience was very positive.

The estimate by Kent was thorough and accurate, the weight within 500 pounds (we ended up under, and our refund should appear on our next credit card statement).

The staff was helpful in helping us set a date. We needed to get our stuff delivered before the July 4th holiday, or it would have cost us an extra five days (Saturday to Wednesday). So we had to move a day or two earlier than we wanted, but that was fine.

The packers showed up on time the day before and packed everything we asked in about a half-day. Our one regret is that we didn't have them pack more (much more!). We left ourselves far too much to do right at the end -- a common mistake, I'm sure -- and that made the last 48 hours kind of a nightmare. But that was our mistake, not theirs.

Then the driver showed up Saturday morning bright and early and got to work. Had everything packed by 3:00 pm. Told us he'd drop off either Tuesday or Wednesday (the first days of our window).

He showed up in Portland on Wednesday and unpacked with the same zeal he'd shown on Saturday, literally running up our stairs with two or three heavy boxes at a time. The local helpers were very friendly, also.

Nothing got dropped or broken, though we did sustain minor damage to a new coffee table when one of the L.A. movers dropped something on it. But it wasn't worth filing a claim about.

Two boxes were unaccounted for upon drop-off, and our driver spent an hour going through the house trying to find them. The tags must have fallen off one of them, and the other I found in the garage a couple days later. Nothing, as far as we can tell, is missing.

So all in all, a very good experience, and I would not hesitate to recommend Andy's to anyone in the L.A. area.
