Moving to Mexico?

So, your party lost the election and you’re fed up with the whole country at this point.  We’ve spent the last 15 months getting on each other’s nerves and there’s just no end in sight!  What better time to consider a move to sunny Mexico?!

Moving to Mexico? Now if you’ve read our article “Moving to Canada?”, you’re ahead of the game.  Since it’s a fairly similar process, just going south instead of north, take that article and turn it upside down….

Just kidding! (It’s a north/south thing.)

In reality moving to a foreign country is a big decision, and Mexico is no exception.  In addition to the challenges you’ll face when moving to Canada, you have the additional difficulty of the language barrier as well as a vastly different culture than most of us in the US are accustomed to living in.  There is a website for Mexican Immigration, but if you don’t already read Spanish, you may have quite a bit of difficulty with it.  Wiki-How is a website that has “how to” guides for just about anything, and in fact, they do have a web page specifically on how to move to Mexico.  Not only is it a good guide on the immigration process, but it’s also got some great information on how to prepare yourself for the language, culture and more.

In addition, you’ll want to pick a good international mover from our list of endorsed movers (on the left).  Just choose three and make sure they can come to your house and do and in-home estimate of your belongings.

Lastly, don’t forget to read our “Guide to International Shipping” by Ed Singer.  Ed walks you step by step through what you need to know for an international move, and you can use our International Moves Forum if you have any questions.

Good luck on your move, and be sure to come back and tell us how your move goes!
